FDNH unveils its new name: College Bound Dorchester

On Monday, February 1st, Federated Dorchester Neighborhood Houses, (FDNH) celebrated its 45th anniversary by hosting a special event. The event served as not only a celebration of the organization’s four decades of service to the community, but also as an opportunity to unveil its new name: College Bound Dorchester.  This name changeis the final step in a year-long rebranding process that will align the organization’s name with its mission to equip all students served with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college and positively impact the community.

The event was attended by over 150 members of the community including local politicians, corporate and foundation funders, students, parents and friends of the organization. “FDNH has always provided important services to the Dorchester community,” stated Marty Walsh, State Representative for the district served by College Bound. “The transition to College Bound Dorchester is an exciting change as the organization takes a stronger stand on the importance of education to support youth.”

Under its new name,College Bound Dorchester will continue to provide educational services to over 1,000 children, youth and adults through five program areas: Early Education, Out of School Time, Adolescent Development, Alternative Education and Adult Education. By providing a continuum of services, College Bound Dorchester ensures that no student gets lost on their path to higher education and that all students have the tools to realize their goals.

“We believe that every single person can be college bound and that ever single student deserves the highest of expectations,” Mark Culliton, CEO of College Bound Dorchester said at the event. “We don’t want to hear the reasons why our students can’t succeed, but instead provide them with tools so that they can.”
