On Friday, March 26th, Governor Deval Patrick joined civic leaders for a walkthrough of the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood of Dorchester to speak to its residents, business owners, educators and youth. Led by College Bound Dorchester, the tour began at College Bound Dorchester’s Log School and included visits to the Bowdoin Street Health Center, Hamilton Hardware and Cesaria’s Restaurant.
Governor Patrick spoke with students of the Alternative and Adult Education programs, encouraging them to stay focused on their goal of college graduation. In meeting with College Bound’s students Governor Patrick was able to learn more about the educational needs of at-risk youth and adults in the neighborhood.
“It is important for our students to be politically engaged and to know that decisions in government impact their community and everyday lives,” stated Mark Culliton, Chief Executive Officer of College Bound Dorchester. “We appreciate the Governor visiting our programs and listening to the concerns and challenges our students face in the community.”
The Governor was joined on the walk by Rob Perez, Executive Vice President and COO of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Mark Battaglini, Vice President of Government Affairs of Cubist Pharmaceuticals and Francis McLoughlin, Corporate Communications of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, supporters of College Bound Dorchester.
